The New Directions Team would like to welcome Penny Willette to our organization. Penny’s official title will be Office Assistant. She will handle the day-to-day operations of the firm, as well as the production of the firm’s employee training and development workshops.
Penny formerly worked for Mezze Restaurant Group out of Williamstown, MA as their business and HR manager. Prior to joining Mezze, Penny worked for Sante Magazine, a national trade publication for restaurant professionals. Her role as event manager included developing, promoting, marketing, coordinating, and managing the execution of two major annual events, the Sante Restaurant Awards and the Sante Restaurant Symposium. Willette holds an Associate’s degree from the Community College of Vermont.
Deborah Mackin, president and founder of New Directions Consulting, had this to say about the recent hire and the overall strategy of the firm:
“We were happy to find Penny. She stuck out immediately in our interview process and we’re glad she took us up on our offer. This hire is part of the business growth plan formed this past winter and look to complete in the coming years. Part of that plan was securing a loan for expansion from First Niagara Bank which we received this spring. The expansion measure included a new robust website, additional technology support in the office and the hiring of an office assistant. It’s very fulfilling to actually see this plan come together and be fruitful. We’re heading into the fall strong and 2012 looks to be a banner year for us. The team and I decided at a certain point to let the markets do what they do and for us to focus on what we do. I think it’s important to understand the economic climate and respect the business uncertainty we’re all still experiencing, but as an entrepreneur sometimes you have to risk short-term uncertainty for long term growth and innovation. We will be doing our part to help the American economy – Penny’s hire is a great way to make sure we’re doing that.”
