Leadership & Team-Building Firm to Open A Second Office in Albany
Leadership development & team-building firm New Directions is adding another location at 920 Albany Shaker Road in Albany, New York at the beginning of the 2014 year. New Directions’ headquarters is currently located at 5 Bank Street in North Bennington, Vermont. The Albany location will be a second office space for New Directions to offer additional services to those in the Capital Region and surrounding areas.
The firm, started in 1984 by Deborah Mackin out of her spare bedroom with a $500 loan from her mother, now is a global company that works with a vast array of local and global organizations looking to build people-centered, high-engagement workplaces including Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia; Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Waterbury, Vermont; Alcoa in multiple plants nation-wide; Sanofi Pasteur in France and Canada; and locally CAP COM Federal Credit Union, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, the Albany Vascular Group and the Healthcare Association of New York State.
Mackin originally set out to create a company that partnered with organizations to increase leadership and strategy, while also providing professional development courses. New Directions provides services in facilitation management, employee training and development, staff and customer surveying, leadership and executive coaching, and organizational strategy and assessment. The firm now boasts a handful of highly talented, successful international consultants, trainers, authors and presenters.
“This year is going to be another exciting year for us,” states Matthew Harrington, Director of Operations with New Directions. The previous year for New Directions was marked with publishing their fourth book, Survival of the Hive: 7 Leadership Lessons from a Beehive, offering numerous public workshops in the Albany area, and being featured on the cover of Capital Magazine. “This next year will see a redesigned logo, tagline and refocus of our brand on what we think we do best: Leadership, Teaming and Organizational Health,” continued Harrington. “The added space will be a perfect expansion of our reach and presence in the Capital Region. The office will be used to hold small group discussions with clients, have executive coaching sessions, and create a space for potential clients to connect and learn more about us.”
“Show up, on time, ready to go,” states Mackin as she reflects on what has made New Directions so successful and long-standing as the company now enters its 30th year in business. “We think this satellite office space embodies this message. It says to the Capital Region, ‘New Directions is showing up, ready to go – let’s get to work.’”
