Matthew Harrington, co-author of the recent leadership book Survival of the Hive: 7 Leadership Lessons from a Beehive and thought leader on the millennial generation will be part of a learning panel for the Hudson-Mohawk Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development event titled: The Technology Edge – The Experts Share!
Harrington is also the Director of Business Development at New Directions, an international training and workforce development firm out of southern Vermont. Harrington regularly presents on new ideas emerging from the training and development industry. Considered an up-and-coming thought leader on the Millennial workforce, social media and social learning, Matthew has designed and produced training workshops for clients like Coca-Cola, Alcoa, Cap Com FCU, Ellis Medicine and the U.S. Navy. Matthew was recently featured on the cover of CAPITAL Magazine as part of their “New Wave of Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders” article.
The workshop will be presented by learning and development experts, including Harrington, who will share with participants some of the leading edge technologies they have used successfully in the development and transference of learning. Participants will have the opportunity to see for themselves how these technologies and tools can enhance the learning experience, facilitate delivery and provide them with new methods of delivery with far reaching impact.
“Organizational learning is changing at an amazing pace as technology-advances are evolving the way we learn and grow,” Harrington says. “As the new generation enters the workforce and expected to be 50% of the employee demographic by 2020, companies will have to prepare for a fundamental shift in the way employees and leaders communicate, learn and share information. It can be a challenging time for the learning industry, but it’s also a very exciting time when looking at the possibilities to enhance the way we teach and the way we learn. I hope that I can add some insight and perspective to the panel and for the people attending.”
Joining Harrington on the panel is Lillian Spina-Caza, Lecturer at Rensselaer Polytechnic, and Gabe Anderson, Web Product Manager for Articulate, developer of e-learning software, content, and community that’s changing the way the world learns.
The Technology Edge – The Experts Share! panel and workshop will be held on Friday September 20th, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Wolferts Roost Country Club at 120 Rensselaer Boulevard in Albany.
