Mackin Completes Certification in the MBTI Step II
Deborah Mackin, Founder/President and Principal Performance Strategist for New Directions, Inc. of North Bennington, Vermont completed certification to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Index Step II, an advanced capability in the use of the personality tool. The Myers-Briggs Type Index (MBTI) is an assessment designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. The MBTI Step II goes beyond the initial tool to examine five facets within each of the personality preference categories.
Mackin is currently certified in the MBTI and has administered the tool to hundreds of managers and leaders in a wide variety of organizations. “The MBTI is 98% reliable on retesting and has 50 years of proven data behind it. We recently worked with 30 managers in a national company who used the tool to understand the strengths of its leadership team and areas where their preferences caused some weakness,” Mackin continued. “They would never have recognized their vulnerabilities without the MBTI results.”
“The MBTI Step II provides people with a deeper insight into their personality preferences and how those preferences affect their leadership, decision making and communication,” Mackin explained. “For many of our customers, the opportunity to take the advanced tool will add to their leadership development options.”
The Step II instrument is an extension of the Step I tool, increasing the number of questions to 144 and answers many questions people have about unique differences in their personality. “People with the same Type often wonder why they respond differently to others with a similar Type,” Mackin explained. “The Step II tool helps participants see those differences in preference and apply those insights to their relationships with others, including their teams.”
Mackin, the author of the Team-Building Tool Kit 2nd Edition, has been an international consultant and trainer for 28 years working with organizations such as Coca-Cola, Alcoa, Bechtel Marine Propulsion Laboratory and Sanofi Pasteur.
