TEAMING: FAQ #1: How do you motivate the unmotivated team?

First, we must remember that we don’t motivate anyone — all we can do is control what goes into the environment that might or might not motivate someone. We would suggest that somehow this team hasn’t gotten excited about its vision and goals — perhaps because there’s a history that the results of the team’s work are never used or the team is expecting a manager to come in and tell them what to do.

Those issues have to be addressed first.  Get the team excited about its vision, its goals, its contributions to the organization.
